Paavo Hanninen is an award-winning writer, director and cinematographer whose films have played at festivals around the world. MFA from UT-Austin. Now lives in New Orleans.

For hire, Paavo directs and shoots commercial projects, documentaries, and music videos ranging from national broadcast spots to local social media. Projects he has shot have been featured on Washington Post,, New York Times Op Docs, Huffington Post, NPR, Rolling Stone, Player's Tribune, and Complex and his commercial work has included work for clients including Bombay Sapphire, GQ, Gold Peak Iced Tea, Pandora, Essence Magazine, Microsoft, Louisiana Tourism, New Orleans Tourism, and Popeye's among many others. Agencies have included BBDO, Mother New York, 360i, and GSD&M. 

His commercial for Episcopal Academy in Baton Rouge won the 2015 New Orleans Golden Addy Award for best video advertisement.

Narrative and Documentary projects he has helped shoot have played at festivals all over the world including Sundance, Rotterdam, and Clermont-Ferrand.

He is currently in post-production on his latest narrative short, "Tourist", and a feature-length verite documentary spanning 3 years of the life of the only all-children's Mardi Gras Indian tribe in New Orleans.
